I am glad to let you that CASA has successfully held the PGA luncheon on Dec. 12 in NY city. There are about 25 people attended the luncheon. There are several officer and delegates attended the event and we discussed the plan for the 2010 CASA annual meeting. They officers who attended the meeting are Haiming Wang, Naixi Li, Guogang Chen, Changzheng Wang, Liaoyang Xie, Tina Leung, Jun Li.

Unfortunately, some  officers could not come to the meeting. The officers briefed the CASA work and accomplishment in the past year and drew a plan for the coming year.

The most recent plan is to hold the CASA annual meeting on Feb. 6, 2009. Which is the weekend before the Chinese New Year and the President day weekend. Hope it will not interrupt the members family travel plan.

At this moment, we contact the Fernwood Hotel in PA, which is a very nice location for conference and family function. We negotiate a 2-night stay group price at $240. This way our memeber can be there the night before the meeting and have more time to enjoy the winter activity around the area. Please see the detail information on the website: www.fernwoodhotel.com.

We will try to finalize the deal with the hotel for the coming week. Please give your feedback to the CASA email address. Thank you.

Chairs of 2006 Annual CASA Meeting in Chicago

The First Message From Chairs Of 2006 Annual CASA Meeting In Chicago

Dear CASA Members,

As a host, we welcome you to come to Chicago and go to the ASA annual meeting and our CASA annual meeting in the middle of Oct 2006. This is the first message regarding our 2006 Annual CASA Meeting in Chicago.

There are a list of things we would like to message out.
First of all, our meeting will be hold in the downtown Chicago in the evening of Sunday, Oct 15, 2006. We still have a lot of details to work on and will send out as soon as all the issues being taken care of.
Meanwhile, please put this event on your schedule and save the date. We are looking for up to 150 people here. You are encouraged to pass this message to all Chinese American Anesthesiologists around you and Chinese speaking anesthesiologists around the world. You are also encouraged to contact Dr. Ge Li via email at  gli3@hotmail.com  for the  reservations due to the limited seats.

Secondly, we suggest you stay in the downtown area if you can for a variety of reasons including safety, convenience, shopping, dinning, entertainment, and so on. You can check those hotels where ASA has deals with as the attachment file shows or look at the yahoo map at
http://maps.yahoo.com/maps _result?name=&addr=&state=IL
&csz=Chicago%2C+IL+60611&ds=n &uzip=60611&mag=4&desc=
&country=&dma=&cat=trav&resize =l&trf=0&lat=41.8942&lon=-87
.6213&mlt=41.8942&mln=-87.6213 &rezoom=1&.intl=us&addrtype=12
&compass=&BFKey=ho
, where you can find out the hotels around the
downtown area. The transportation between hotels and McCormick Center, where is the ASA meeting will be hold, will be provided by ASA. A lot of people booked their hotels around that area in the past and took the advantage of ASA transportation service. Certainly, it can be done again on your own desire since the middle of Oct in Chicago is just about right weather wise and walking a block or two would not be a problem. A couple of hotels, we recommend because they are inexpensive but reasonable quality, short walking distance to ASA hotels, and people experienced, include Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, Holiday Inn Chicago-City Centre, Radisson Hotel & Suites Chicago, Cass Hotel, Club Quarters, Wacker at Michigan (75 E Wacker Dr, Phone:312-357-6400,small room, one bed per room). Dr. Hu personally had a great experience with Residence Inn by Marriott somewhere else with a big family but he does not know about the one in Downtown Chicago. Let us know if you have any questions about your accommodation.
We do have some ideas about the places for fun including dinner cruise, restaurants, Millennium Park, museums, and something about our Chinatown here, etc. We are working on those details and will give to you shortly.
You are welcome to ask questions from now on. We will do our best to provide you useful information.
Looking forward to having the second message soon.

Sincerely

Ling Qun Hu, MD and Ge Li, MD, PhD

CASA 2006 Annual Meeting at the Great Wolf Lodge Res

Feb. 25, 2006 Click here for Agenda

The Chinese American Society of Anesthesiology (CASA) will hold the 2006 annual meeting at the Great Wolf Lodge in Pocono, PA, with the winter retreat. All the CASA and ACAP members are invited.

Last December, the CASA organized the winter trip to the Great Wolf Lodge at Pocono, which is very welcome. Everybody on the trip wants to go back again. The biggest in-door water park at the northeastern region is fabulous, not only for kids and also for adults. The spacious game room, nice decorated restaurant and friendly atmosphere are very impressive. The resort is near Camelback skiing resort and premier outlet shopping center. Unfortunately some families could not even make the trip due to the limit of the availability of the rooms. So the CASA decided to hold our 2006 annual meeting at the Great Wolf Lodge Resort on Feb. 25th, 2006. which will give us another opportunity to enjoy the wonderful in-door water park resort in the middle of the winter.

The Great Wolf Lodge is a fun-filled unique resort. In the park, you can slide down the 626 feet Bear Taillanding tubes, twist inside and outside the building and drop into a plug pool. In addition, there are three kiddie slides, 10 feet family flume water slides, a Laze river, two large hot tubs, an activity pool with water basketball, a wave pool with 111,000 gallons of water gives you a river-rafting experience. For more information, please check the website: www.poconogreatwolflodge.com.

Just minutes away from the Great Wolf Lodge resort, you can experience the great winter fun time at the Camelback skiing area, the great skiing resort in this region. Which features 33 slopes and trails, 100% snow making and 13 lifts. You can introduce your kids to skiing at the Children's Leaning Center, or take your family snowtubing at the 10 chute, 4 tow tubing park. Camelback is a great place for the snow fun. More information will be found at: www.skicamelback.com

At the Great Wolf Lodge resort, the members of CASA and ACAP will enjoy the group rate for the Family Suite at $279. (Regular rate $379). Any member wants to bring your family to the meeting, please send email to chineseasa@yahoo.com for the registration at your earliest convenience. The CASA has to book the rooms ASAP. Due to the high peak season, we can not guarantee the group rate and even a room if you register too late.

Please make your work schedule feasible for the Feb. 25 and 26. (Saturday and Sunday). Also, please try be there earlier. You can start to check in at 11:00 Am on Stat. based on first come first serve rule. You are allowed to play in the water park until 10 PM the next day, or you can go skiing at the nearby camelback skiing resort.

The meeting will be held on Feb. 25, 5:00PM-6:30PM,(Detail TBA)
6:30PM-12:00PM Dinner, entertainment, Magic show, Puzzle, Lottery drawing, Kala-OK, Dancing Party.

Charges for the dinner: $20 per adult, $10 per child <3 y free.

It is impossible to hold this meeting without the sponsorship from the , AXA Morristown office(Joyce Huang), Classic Florida Realty(Michael Qiao), Ocean Financial Group (Edward Wang). So I strongly urge the members to attend our meet at 5:00PM to show your support to our societies and appreciation to our sponsors. I believe that you will also greatly benefit from these present ions.

Best regard.

Call for submission: Chinese Anesthesiology History

Nov. 1, 2005

Dear Colleagues and Friends:
My name is Zhongcong Xie, an Anesthesiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. During my recent trip to China, I was asked by Dr. Li, Dixin, a very senior Anesthesiologist in China and a legend of Chinese Anesthesiology Society, to collect 100 to 150 Chinese American Anesthesiologists for his to be published book of Chinese Anesthesiology History. Dr. Li feels that the Chinese Anesthesiologists in the US should be an important part in the book. Suggested by Dr. Chang-zheng Wang, the Assistant Secretary of CASA, I am going to make this announcement in the website of CASA. I am also going to post my own submitted description for your reference. Please write a description for yourself in Chinese and e-mail it to me at: zxie@hms.harvard.edu, with the subject: Chinese American Anesthesiologist. We would like to finish the collection by the end of November, 2005. Thank you very much for your help and support in this regard.
